First Day of School

I can't believe summer is over and Maddie is in the 1st grade! She had a great first day of school yesterday and seems to really like her teacher. We started off the morning pretty good with a power breakfast of her favorite cereal: Frosted Flakes, peaches, and milk. While she ate breakfast, she watched a little Tom & Jerry and listened to me telling her to hurry up!! After breakfast, she finally got upstairs to brush her teeth, wash her face and hands, get dressed, brush her hair, and last but not least....put her shoes on.
Then, it was picture time. Our picture session did not go as well as I expected. Nathan spent the night with Nana, so he wasn't around for pictures. Tucker hurt his back over the weekend, so he left early to go to the chiropractor to get "adjusted", so he wasn't around. So, it was just me and Maddie. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the camera positioned in a way to take our picture together, so the little school girl was the main model.

Once, we got to school - I realized I left my camera at home and my phone in the car. So no pictures of Maddie in her classroom this year! I walked her to her classroom with her leading the way. She has to go down two long hallways before arriving to her room. Well, she walked right past the room. (However, this morning she did a great job and found it with no problems!)
With a quick hug and a kiss, she was off for her 1st day of 1st grade. As I turned to leave to go to work, I had a few tears in my eyes and couldn't seem to leave the door of the room. She looked so little, but yet so big at the same time. It helps to know that she had a great day and she told me last night that she loves 1st grade!!! But, she thinks it is going to be a little harder than Kindergarten!!! :) Here's to a great school year, cheers!

{A little side note about Maddie's hair. My mother kept her on Friday and she helped me by taking her to get her hair trimmed. Well, I told mom that I wanted an inch cut off because I wanted it to still go in a ponytail. Mom talked me into an inch and a half because it was quite long. So I agreed, but no more than that and I wanted it to still be able to be in a ponytail!
Well, the lady gave her a really bad haircut and it was not even anywhere!!! Mom said she told the lady that it didn't look even, but she insisted it was. So, once I saw her I freaked out!!! So, on Sunday I took her to get her hair cut AGAIN! It took the lady 40 minutes to straighten it out and a bob! It is really cute, but we both like it longer! I think we have all learned a valuable lesson here!!!!}
